Champagne Tasting: The Aubois Champagnes of Charles Dufour
July 29, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm£15
Champagne tasting: 29th July 2017 at 1pm and again at 4pm
We’re massively excited to be hosting this one-off tasting with Charles Dufour, one of the Aube’s rising stars and a grower who represents everything that makes this supposed ‘lesser’ Champagne producing region so exciting.
Authenticity and detail are absolutely key to the born-and-bred Champenois Charles as a result his vineyard and cellar work are both utterly meticulous, with the estate’s 6 hectares, a good portion of which were originally planted by his grandfather (incorporating all three Champagne varietals and a small proportion of pinot blanc) are all farmed by strict organic standards. Oak is shunned in the cellar in favour of stainless steel’s less intrusive qualities with the wines seeing minimal additions of sugar and sulphur and absolutely no filtering or fining. The resulting bottles are singular Champagnes of the utmost character, and the kind of thing that are snapped up by the staff in our shops before they’ve had the chance to get on the shelves.
This is an absolute one-off opportunity to taste these wines that arrive in this country in miniscule quantities alongside one another and we’ll be staging two tastings, at 1pm and 4pm on Saturday 29th July which will allow us to host smaller groups for a more intimate feel.
Tickets for both times can be bought by clicking here.
