Spring is here so it’s time to connect with the outdoors, your local community and great food at Liverpool’s home-grown Food for Real Festival – back on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March for its SPRING edition. This year, the festival focuses on Seeds and the planting of New Ideas, with an invited Away team of filmmakers, seed experts and fermentation gurus coming to L8 to share their knowledge with the local community and our Home team of gardeners, cooks and pioneers.
Curated by socially-engaged, creative food enterprise, Squash, and fully situated along Windsor Street, L8, Food for Real: Spring will combine film screenings, including two UK premieres, with an array of workshops and activities featuring special guests from around the world:
Esiah Levy, whose SeedsShare project has seen his Croydon-grown seeds sent around the world, will lead growing and seed sharing worshops.
Deirdre Dee Woods, BBC Cook of the Year 2016, member of London Food Board and the Community Food Growers Network will be exploring food legacies and advising communities on how to take control of food systems.
Award-winning artist and gardener Karen Guthrie will be exploring the magic of miso and Japanese cooking
Dutch filmmaker Rosie Stapel comes to Liverpool to present the UK premiere of her beautiful, meditative film Portrait of a Garden
Festival Director Clare Owens said ‘Come down to Windsor Street this weekend and kickstart your spring! Get your hands dirty planting some seeds, taste some fresh, seasonal delicious food, watch some amazing films and make new friends!’
