If you are new to sourdough bread then this is the perfect workshop, and if you’ve decided to learn to bake bread for the first time then this workshop is also suitable because we cover all the basics thoroughly. There is nothing that makes a house a home more then the smell of freshly baked bread. Most commercial bread offering doesn’t even come close to being as good as a loaf you bake at home. We want real bread, but sourdough is really extra special because it is so incredibly delicious, easily digestible and economic to make.
In this one-day Sourdough Bread Making workshop you will learn how to make The Sourdough School Classic as an Ambient proof. You will learn how to keep a healthy starter, why the type of flour you use makes a difference to your loaf and how to modify your recipe to make. The aim is to send you home feeling confident with all the knowledge you need to bake your own home made artisan loaves yourself.
It’s lots of hands on, some participative demonstration and demonstration so you will be mixing, shaping and proving sourdough, and be able to see every aspect through to the bake – we also have fun!
This sourdough bread course is held in a beautiful French style kitchen and you will learn:
- How to make a traditional white sourdough loaf
- How to refresh and feed your starter
- Understand why sourdough is easy to digest and nutritionally superior to any other kind of bread
- Understand the role of salt in sourdough
- Have a complete understanding of how sourdough behaves so you can make a really great loaf every time you bake.
At the end of the class you will be confident with all the knowledge you need to bake your own home made artisan loaves yourself. It is a fun day, full of information and practical demonstrations that you get involved in. We will have a delicious sourdough based lunch, made with local ingredients – and a glass of our own locally produced naturally fermented wine is included.
