For seventy years, we’ve been researching the best practices of organic agriculture and sharing our findings with farmers and scientists throughout the world, advocating for policies that support farmers, and educating consumers about how going organic is the healthiest option for people and the planet. Our research Our Farming Systems Trial® is the longest-running side-by-side U.S. study comparing conventional chemical agriculture with organic methods. What have we found? Organic yields match conventional and outperform them in years of drought and environmental distress. New areas of study include rates of carbon sequestration in chemical versus organic plots and new techniques for weed suppression. Our outreach From field days, to workshops, to exclusive online tools for farmers and original articles, Rodale Institute has been sharing our findings with farmers, scientists, policy-makers, gardeners and consumers the world over.

  • Organic Eprints

An international open access archive for papers related to research in organic agriculture. The archive contains full-text papers in electronic form together with bibliographic information, abstracts and other metadata. It was developed by the Danish Research Centre for Organic Farming, DARCOF, which expanded into the International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS) in 2008. Since 2003 there has been co-operation with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, FiBL. The main objectives are to facilitate the communication of research papers and proposals, to improve the dissemination and impact of research findings, and to document the research effort. In accordance with these objectives the archive is designed to facilitate international use and cooperation. The archive accepts many kinds of papers: preprints (pre-review), postprints (post-review) and reprints (published) of scientific papers, conference papers and posters, theses, reports, books and book chapters, magazine articles, web products, project descriptions, and other published or unpublished documents.

    Email:

The International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS) was founded in 2008. The centre is an expansion of the former Danish Agricultural Research Centre for Organic Farming (DARCOF), which the Danish Government decided to provide with an international mandate and an international board. ICROFS is a ‘centre without walls’, where the research is performed in interdisciplinary collaboration between research groups in different institutions and universities. The Centre contributes to the coordination, management and performance of strategic and user oriented, high quality research at the national as well as the international level, on the basis of the organic philosophy and organic principles and issues. ICROFS coordinates European trans-national research concerned with organic food and farming systems under the headline of Core Organic. Moreover, ICROFS is actively involved in a European research project on improving the organic certification system.
