We open Thursday and Friday each week for the sale of organic produce. In addition we organise a year round programme of events for all ages. Our straw bale, sustainably-built Education Centre can be hired out for events and functions. Our Education Team provide field trips based around the National Curriculum. These can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities and can include a cooking session in our kitchen.

An off-grid smallholding in the Parque Natural de Serra de Sao Mamede, Portugal. There are three types of accommodation from a River Lodge for two, an old goat milking parlour sleeping up to four, and the Boar Hide – a wooden hut in the woods next to the river where the wild boar congregate during the summer. We are remote and a bit on the wild side. Access is by foot for a minimum of 300mts over ancient stone paths. A reasonable level of fitness is required. We offer peace and privacy. As well as the mill there are several other buildings on the land including another mill with two dwellings (still ruins) and an old goat milking parlour half way up a hill. We have also added two other dwellings for you to take a breather from the hectic world out there. We have kept the place completely off grid. No mains power, no mains water and we deal with our own waste. We work organically and with a respect of the land, landscape and its history. We bought the place in 2005 just before that big dark cloud fell over Europe. To help punch a hole of hope into this mess we have three slightly different types of accommodation for you to regain a sense of balance (you’ll need it on the paths). We have tarted-up the Goat House, built a glampy kind of lodge overlooking the river and a wooden hide for wild boar watching. Each venue Read more [...]
